the history of Art and Sculpture the nude figure has remained the
most respected subject ever created, maybe in part due to the
challenge of learning the human anatomy and it’s many variations.
Maybe in part due to the challenge of learning the form, design and
the lines that make a sculpture come alive…maybe in part due to the
challenge of creating emotion and personality in an inanimate
object…. Undoubtedly,
there is no subject known so well to so many, as we have all seen
the human body, and each of us has a preconceived idea of what we
think is right or wrong…regardless, the human body is a glorious
creation, fascinating and beautiful in it’s many forms. In spite of the challenges, this sculpture is one I had wanted to create for some time… I see the male as more “architectural” than the female body, the lines, muscling, and bone structure are much more defined and exacting than the female…also, I wanted this to be a classical sculpture, subtle and graceful… beautiful, strong and gentle. Is that too much to ask? I think not...
